Why microwaves

After years of being on HF, I got tired and bored with the 5/9 73 qso's and wanted something more substantial. Operating on microwave bands does away with the qrm one often gets on HF from idiots around the world as well as locals. However it does have its own drawbacks, such as minimal qso's under flat condx, antennas more directive than 70cm and hardware can be over priced and often difficult to obtain.
